DOLD Residual Current Monitors (RCM)
Residual current monitors (RCM) measure and monitor residual currents in grounded power supply systems (TN and TT systems). Monitoring is based on the residual current measurement principle and is primarily used to avoid costly downtimes and prevent fire hazards caused by creeping insulation faults. Residual current monitors are used in systems where, in the event of a fault, a warning message is required but no immediate shutdown should occur. Early detection of insulation faults, combined with preventive maintenance and planned servicing during non-operating hours, helps prevent unexpected shutdowns, property damage, and high costs.
DOLD residual current monitors are available in both Type A and Type B versions. Type A monitors are suitable for measuring AC currents and pulsating DC residual currents (Type A according to IEC/TR 60755). Type B monitors are suitable for measuring all types of residual currents in electrical installations, including AC currents, pulsating and smooth DC currents, and circuits with DC components. Type B devices are recommended for applications such as frequency converter systems.
