Safety Light curtains are optoelectronic devices that use one or more light beams between an emitter and a receiver to create an intangible controlled area.
Reer safety light curtains fulfil Type 2 / PL c and Type 4 / PL e safety requirements. Safety light curtains are available for finger, hand, and personnel protection. Models with muting functions are suitable for conveyor applications, where separate photoelectric sensors can identify a predefined object and allow it to pass through the safety light curtain without interrupting the process.
Safety light curtains with watertight enclosure are designed for industrial environments where the safety light curtain may be exposed to water or temperature variations. EOS series safety light curtains with IP69K protection rating and Ecolab approval are also suitable for the requirements of the food industry. Watertight enclosure models are also available with UV protection.

SAFETY LEVEL
Defines the self-monitoring and safety principles contained in the device; it must be chosen as a function of the risk level characterising the machine.
PROTECTED HEIGHT
This is the height protected by the light curtain. If it is positioned horizontally, this value shows the depth of the protected zone.
RANGE
This is the maximum working distance that may exist between the emitter and the receiver.
RESPONSE TIME
This is the time it takes for the safety light curtain to transmit the alarm signal from the time the protected zone is interrupted.
LIGHT CURTAIN RESOLUTION
The resolution of a light curtain is the minimum size of an object that, placed into the controlled area, will obscure the controlled zone and hence stop the hazardous movement of the machine.
