SENTIR mat

ASO Safety SENTIR safety mats are used to safeguard dangerous areas in industrial and manufacturing environments. Stepping on the mat triggers an immediate stop signal to prevent individuals from getting too close to the machine and injuring themselves.

SENTIR safety mats undergo rigorous testing and are designed to withstand over 6 million activations, making them extremely durable and reliable. Safety mats are made of polyurethane (PU) material. The basic construction of the mat consists of two conductive plates which are separated by a proprietary isolating layer. These plates are completely potted in a polyurethane structure, so that they are impervious to oil, water and dirt. An anti-slip surface is also implemented into the design. Optional checkered surfaces in aluminum- and stainless steel are also available for applications with high mechanical stress on the mat surface.

Safety mats are available in standard sizes and can be customized to meet specific customer requirements. ASO’s in-house product development and production capabilities enable customization of safety mats to meet application needs. Safety mats can be made in different shapes, with multiple detection zones, LED status indication, and entirely or partially in different colors. For example, the mat can be circular or incorporate cuts or openings. When the mat is configured with two detection zones, one zone can be used to slow down the machine’s operation while the other zone shuts down the machine completely. This can be useful if the protected machine is not hazardous until you are very close to it. LED status indication, on the other hand, can illustrate the machine’s status. When the machine is operational, the LED is green, turning yellow when stepping into the first zone, and red when the machine stops.

For fixing the safety mats, options include molded rubber profiles, aluminum rails, or installation holes through the mat. The mats come with M8 male and female connectors, enabling easy connection of mats in series to create a larger protected area. The operation of each safety mat or a mat assembly is continuously monitored by an 8.2 kOhm control unit. This ensures reliable detection of cable breakages as well. When used with ASO’s ELMON 41-322 control unit, the safety mat achieves safety level Cat. 3 / PL d.
