MGB2 Modular

The new MGB2 Modular represents the logical further development of the globally successful Multifunctional Gate Box MGB. A revised design, new and extended functions, as well as a modular layout offer maximum flexibility and cost-effectiveness. MGB2 Modular secures safety doors and fences on machines and installations during hazardous machine movements. A modular design is the secret behind the system’s adaptability to specific requirements. The MGB2 Modular consists of a locking module, plug-in submodules with control and indicating functions, plus an MBM bus module for connecting to PROFINET/PROFIsafe and to EtherCAT/FSoE and EtherCAT P/FSoE as well.

Thanks to the modular design, the MGB2 Modular can be variably equipped with different functions. The MGB2 Modular offers space for two submodules, each with up to three different control elements. The extension module MCM can extend the functionality of the MGB2 considerably. If the maximum possible six control elements in the locking module MGB2 are not enough or labelling is required, four further submodules MSM can be inserted into an extension module MCM. A large selection of different submodules MSM make the MGB2 into a small control system. Different submodules are available to adapt the MGB2 or the MCM optimally to the control functions necessary for a machine or installation, whether for labelling or with pushbuttons, an emergency stop or a connection for an enabling switch.

MGB2 is equipped with a very robust, industrial housing and has an integrated metal door stop, as well as an integrated mounting plate. It can be mounted on doors hinged on the left and right, as well as on sliding doors. Changeover is performed during mounting. The locking force of 2,000 N effectively prevents unintentional opening of the guard. The MGB2 Modular meets the requirements of all relevant standards, e.g. EN ISO 13849‑1 and EN ISO 14119.

  • Achieves the highest possible safety level: Cat. 4 / PL e according to EN ISO 13849-1
  • MGB2 Modular can be connected to PROFINET/PROFIsafe, EtherCAT/FSoE, EtherCAT P/FSoE by using the bus module MBM.
  • MBM bus module takes only one address from the bus system
  • MBM bus module can be installed separately from the safety switch, e.g. in an electrical cabinet
  • MGB2 Modular safety switch can be used right- and left-handed
  • Modular design gives flexibility to the use of the safety switch. A selection of different locking modules, handle modules, button modules enables the design of safety locking system according to the application
  • Two button modules of the MGB2 safety switch provide a total of six control buttons.
  • Button modules can be rotated to suit the installation direction of locking module
  • Updated handle module design
  • Optional MCM extension module available for 12 additional control buttons
  • Degree of protection IP65
  • Installation and maintenance via plug & play
  • Accurate fault diagnostics in maintenance situations which speeds up the time required for maintenance
  • Euchner safety switches are approved according to the following standards BIA (Germany), SUVA (Switzerland), SA (Sweden), CSA (Canada), UL (USA)

Optimal applications:

  • Intelligent systems in industry
  • Safe control of robotic cells
  • Safe control of production lines and areas
  • Locking and monitoring of maintenance doors
